February 2018 Budget Check-In!

Heya’ everybody! February was a bit of a spendy month for me because of big expenses every now and then I had to pay, but dang it, I lived! Here is the break down for the month! πŸ™‚

Monthly Bills: $500.00

For rent, water, heating, and all of that kind of stuff. It’s one big flat fee I pay each month to cover everything.

Activities: $30.00

Got a haircut this month. πŸ™‚ I try to go one month between hair cuts to cut down costs, so after March, I will be getting another haircut in April.

Medication: $0.00

LOCMom is so nice to pay for my medications that are usually under 5 bucks anyway, but I am thankful. ❀

Groceries: $88.21

Aha! Groceries are lower this month! I was a bit more careful with my spending in this category in February and things have paid off. πŸ™‚

Household Expenses: $89.35

Yeeeees, this category is a bit spendy. Had to prepare for the upcoming warmer weather, so some clothing was bought in February. All of the clothing was either from Wal-Mart or Goodwill though, so I count that as a saved cost, but when getting the amount of money I receive each month from Social Security, every little bit counts. There was also a cold snap again and I decided to take advantage of a t-shirt sale Wal-Mart was having on some of their clearance winter shirts, so I bought three shirts for 3 bucks each. And I must say they are quite good looking and cozy. πŸ™‚

Misc. Items: $79.16

This category could have been a lot worse spending wise, but it wasn’t thank goodness. After looking over the numbers, I overspent in the Operation Christmas Child Items Category (OCC items). I just had to get some boxes filled up to complete them, but at lest everything was under a buck and bought with a coupon. Still spent my usual 5 bucks on the OCC Items as well though. But in March, I plan to do better with this.

I also had a pricey package I had to ship to a friend filled with See’s Candy chocolate. Didn’t know it would be so expensive or I would have just bought them something on the store’s website I purchased the items from. You live and learn. 😦

And my Goodwill/Thrift Store spending was not too bad this month! I’m pretty proud of me for being so thrifty money wise when shopping in thrift stores in February. πŸ™‚

Entertainment: $43.98

I’m above the budget amount for this category by nearly 4 bucks. The reason is I wanted to buy a manga book to finish off a series since the a manga series I bought in February ended with an INTOLERABLE cliff hanger. It brought me back to my high school days with that series and I refused to put up with that same cliffhanger again like I did in my school days, so I bought the last book of the series for 5-6 dollars.

But besides that final purchase, this category is still looking pretty good. πŸ™‚

Eating Out: $34.96

Oh my gosh, I am just shocked by this category. O _O;;; It’s amazing to see where some of your money goes when you write it down throughout the month. I have decided because of me sometimes eating out a lot like I did in February, I want to keep this category at least under 35-30 dollars. And it looks like I accomplished that in February, but there is always room for improvement!

Budgeted Items: $68.23

This category is for all of the items I budget for at the beginning of the month using the Envelope System. I especially use this system for paying for my Costco items. It’s a little higher than I would like it to be because I had to buy two extra stamp booklets for greeting cards, but those stamps will all get used eventually.

And the final total comes to…

*drum roll*

Final Total: $933.89

Wow… I didn’t know I had it in me. I spent a lot this month! I kind of like to keep things under $900.00 now that I think about it… Will just have to try again in March, I guess! 😦

How was your February 2018 Budget?

What did I do/buy this weekend? (March 3-4, 2018)

Hello, everybody! Sorry for the Weekend Update delay, I had a killer migraine yesterday. 😦 But it’s gone now! Come see what I did this weekend! πŸ˜€

On Saturday, I decided that I wanted to splurge on some yummy chocolates, so I went to See’s Candy and bought some Springtime Truffles! They had dark chocolate raspberry and lemon filling inside of them! Mmmmm… Good stuff! πŸ˜€

Sorry about the random cat hair. LOCKitty Amelia sheds a lot , so fur is always getting everywhere. πŸ˜›

Then I went to Clothing Revival to see if they had a pair of shorts there that I liked! And sheeeeesh, their clothing must have been for 8-12 year olds because all of their clothes were so short and silly… I managed to find a pair of exercise shorts that fitted nicely and I had, keyword ‘had’, a $5.00 off coupon for them, but I left it in the dressing room that somebody else went and used, so IΒ couldn’t go back in and get it. Boy, did that make my blood boil. 😑 I’m sure some of my readers know how that is when you lose something precious to you when every penny counts. Having a good deal and then losing it… Sheesh. 😦

After Clothing Revival, I went to Goodwill and bought a sun hat and a plastic green basket for my hygiene supplies on my bathroom counter. When I saw the green basket at Goodwill, I decided that I was going to be the person that saved it from the dump and make use of it in my home. So I did just that. πŸ™‚ The sun hat was for a Luffy cosplay from the manga series, One Piece. I tried my hardest to make the hat look nice with pieces of red ribbon around the top of it like Luffy’s hat, but the hat is just a little too small for my head, haha. πŸ˜› But it’s fine since it was just for a cheap costume prop. πŸ™‚

After heading home from the store, I also read the rest of March Comes in Like a Lion manga series and I am OFFICIALLY all caught up to the latest manga volume now and I am SO PUMPED! Man, that Japanese comic book series is great! Also, I was able to gather more source material from a character that stars in a piece of fanfiction that I wrote about him, so I was able to improve his character in my fanfiction that I wrote about the manga series. πŸ™‚ It flows so well now. ❀

Money Spent on Saturday

  • Sun Hat – $3.19
  • Plastic Green Basket – $0.69
  • See’s Candy Springtime Truffles – $7.75
  • Exercise Shorts – $7.67

Total Amount Spent:Β $19.30

On Sunday, I went to my favorite seamstress’ house to get my size 14 pants hemmed! These size 14 pants are designer jeans I bought at Goodwill for 7 bucks each and they look so good on me! πŸ™‚ But the pant legs on all of them are way too long, so I budgeted money for them this month so they could be hemmed! Now I waiting until they are fixed up so I can finally wear them and put away my size 16 pants for good because I’m planning on never being that size again! πŸ˜€

I also went to the Frugalpants Grocery Store for some cheap groceries, but had to buy some household supplies which ran my total up over 30 bucks. T _T I try to keep my grocery bill under $30.00 usually, so whenever I go over 30 bucks, it huuuuurts. 😦 I also bought some chocolate there as well, but seeing that the chocolate I bought will probably not taste good after buying the same brand at the dollar store, I will be taking it back. Can’t waste precious calories on bad chocolate. > _>

I also went to the Spendypants Thrift Store and bought myself a PINK bag that was from Victoria’s Secret! Before buying it though, I looked it over since it was covered in sequins to see if anything was damaged on the bag and everything looked mostly fine! So I purchased it! πŸ™‚ It is such a cute bag and I will probably use it when I go on trips and stuff like that. I would never buy a PINK branded bag from Victoria’s Secret for full price, but I will pay a discount for it, haha. πŸ˜›

After the Spendypants Thrift Store, I stopped at Dollar Tree for St. Patrick’s Day cards and a few other things and then I went home and relaxed. πŸ™‚

  • Kleenex Tissue Boxes (4-pack with $1.00 off coupon) – $4.78
  • Bananas – $0.63
  • Kidney Beans (1 can) – $0.98
  • Avocados (4) – $2.72

Yeah, a spendy weekend. Going to hold back for the remainder of the month since it’s only the 5th. Gotta’ make every penny count! T _T

How was your weekend?

Ms. LOC’s Art Corner (Gallery 1)

Heya’ everybody! Today is the start of a new blog series called ‘Ms. LOC’s Art Corner’! In this blog series, I will be showing off my artwork that I have been doing recently that has been completed or maybe not completed yet. You never know what I may post though! πŸ™‚Β

So, I have been drawing again lately. It’s been a while since I have been doing any kind of artwork and since I have completed at least two pieces with more on the way, I kind wanted to show all of you, my wonderful readers, what I have been drawing. πŸ™‚ Let’s get started!

The two pieces of artwork I am about to show you are in the fanart category. Fanart is a type of artwork that people draw from other series that are from either books or television. I have watermarked each image so if they are shared by somebody without my permission, they won’t be able to get the watermarking off of it. πŸ™‚

Here is my first piece!

Todaroki Laying To Rest copy

Man, I did a good job crosshatching this one! This character is Shoto Todoroki from the anime and manga series, Boku no Hero Academy, or My Hero Academia. It is a Japanese comic, or manga, and animated television show that I am a fan of! It’s about a boy named Deku who wantsΒ to become a heroΒ and gets help from a famous hero named All Might in order to receive a quirk, or super hero power, so he can get into a super hero school and become a famous hero like All Might. Throughout the story, he defeats bad guys and stuff basically. πŸ˜› Can’t wait until the 3rd season this coming April! πŸ˜€

Anyway, the reason why this character look so sad and is crying is that he is facing his past and overcoming it. He is laying it to rest, so to speak. I can speak too much on this character’s past because I would be spoiling the details behind this character for those of you who haven’t watched or read My Hero Academia yet though. I don’t want to be that person ruining things for everybody, haha. πŸ˜›

The materials I used to crosshatch this character are a black pen brush and black Copic pens. πŸ™‚

Next and last but not least!

Souya Fanart (Text)

Hmm… After looking at this picture uploaded, I should have put more crosshatching into his gray suit. I can always go back and do it again, but I like him this way I think. πŸ™‚

Anyway, this piece of fanart is of a character named Touji Souya from the anime and manga 3-Gatsu no Lion or, March Comes in Like a Lion. This series centers around a Japanese Chess-like game called Shogi and Touji Souya is the best player in Japan who plays that game in this particular series. He is known asΒ aΒ Meijin of Shogi. I’m not sure what a ‘Meijin’ is exactly, but from reading the manga, it means you’re top dog in the world of Shogi, I guess. πŸ˜›

In this picture, the character is holding up a brush and holding a bag of candy. This picture is a piece of fanart from a manga panel in the comic and in the comic, the character is facing to the side instead of facing forward. I drew him facing forward for a change of perspective though. I don’t know about you, but in the manga, Touji Souya’s smile makes by heart melt like butter. πŸ˜€

I used Copic black pens and a Prismacolor markers for the grayscale shading. Did pointalism with the marker throughout his entire suit and eyes, so it did take a while to get them both shaded, especially the suit…

After Thoughts

And I believe that is it! Thank you for joining me in Ms. LOC’s Art Corner! In the next Art Corner, I hope to have more artwork to show everybody that will make you just as happy! πŸ˜€
