What did I do/buy this weekend? (July 7-8, 2018)

Hey everybody! I’m full from eating Costco chicken for lunch and feeling great! Woot woot! This weekend was really fun and I did enjoy it a lot! Come and see what I did! πŸ˜€

Saturday

Things around our house seem to be going well. The big move will be here before we know it and we want to be ready! So LOCMom and I have been packing stuff up and getting everything ready for the moving truck. πŸ˜€ Can’t wait!

But this Saturday, I went out shopping! First I went to TJMAXX and got myself a little mini chef’s knife. Maybe even too mini… After using it once, I am going to have to get used to how short it is… The reason why I bought it so small is because I plan on not doing any major cooking with. You know, just chopping up veggies, fruit, and your basic piece of meat. I am so not used to having my own fancy little knife, but with using my TJMAXX gift card to buy it around 5 dollars, it was worth trying it out to see if I liked the knife or not. πŸ™‚ In all honesty, I really do love my new knife, but I just have to get used to it first. ^ _^

A little later on, LOCMom went to meet her friend in the mall and I went shopping while she was visiting with her friend. I noticed that The Children’s Place was having a clearance sale and I thought that would be a perfect opportunity to buy cheap clothing items for my Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes (I pack them year round πŸ™‚ ). And wouldn’t you know it, I find perfect sized shirts for 5-8 year old girls for $0.99 each! I got the three that were left in the perfect size and grabbed one $1.99 shirt since all of the shirts in that store I found were a little too girly girl-ish and had a total preppy attitude about them which made me feel sort of awkward to read some of the sayings on the shirts… Unpopular kid me in school would have hated a lot of those shirts in that store you could say. πŸ˜›

Then after buying a few shirts, I went over to a place called Auntie Anne’s and got myself a pretzel with some cheese dip. I have been wanting to try this pretzel chain for a while now and on Saturday, I got my chance to. πŸ™‚ The verdict? The pretzels were good, but a little too hard for my liking. Boooooooooo… :C But hey, if I ever want to try another kind of pretzel they make, I did a survey on my receipt that gave me a coupon for a FREE PRETZEL with the purchase of another pretzel! πŸ˜€ Gonna’ be using that coupon. I can feel it since I want to try the place again one more time. πŸ™‚

After getting home from the mall, on Amazon, I ordered a party game since I had a little extra money this month. The game was called Pin the Horn on the Unicorn! I thought this would be a fun game at my future parties and birthday parties I would be holding in the future, so I bought it for 8 bucks. πŸ™‚ Here is the game on Amazon if anyone is interested in getting their own! πŸ˜€ Now, since the game is a paper game with paper parts to it, my plan after getting the game is going to be to laminate everything. That way, I can play this game throughout the years to come and it won’t ever fall apart on me! πŸ˜€ Yup, I am too smart, haha. πŸ™‚

And, rejoice! I actually saved my receipts from this weekend so I will be able to post my spending for everyone to see! Woot woot!

Money Spent on Saturday

  • Kid’s Shirts (4 shirts) – $6.38
  • Mini Chef’s Knife (purchased with giftcard) – $5.35
  • Pretzel Meal – $4.59
  • Unicorn Party Game – $7.97

Total Amount Spent: $16.32

Sunday

Sunday was particularly fun day because today I got to go to… Goodwill! Man, did I have a fun time in there and came out with a lot of treasure!

Check out my haul!

HAUL! HAUL! HAUL! ^ o^

Okay, some of these items were wants, but a lot of it I needed. πŸ™‚ The only items above that I found to be something that I could have done without was the pack of paper and the scissors. I was so excited to find that pack of paper in the thrift store because I thought it was regular printer paper. But to my surprise and for me regrettably not reading the fine print on the pack of paper, the pack of paper was 3-hole punch white printer paper instead of regular white printer paper. UGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH. That’s three dollars I will never see again. So now this paper is going to go to the place I volunteer at so they can hopefully use it in their office areas. And then the green scissors. Silly me thinking they were shredding scissors for credit cards or something, but instead, they were herb cutting scissors! Herb cutting scissors! What were they doing in the office section? πŸ˜₯ Oh well. I find that I don’t come across herb cuttings scissors quite in thrift stores too often and LOCMom wants to hold onto them, so that is what we’re going to do with them. πŸ™‚ So yup! That is my Goodwill haul for today! I try not to go to Goodwill too often though because it is so easy to spend too much in there, so I am probably not going to be going back to Goodwill for a while, haha. πŸ™‚

And a little while later, LOCMom and I went to Costco! While there, I tried out one of Costco’s new food items at their snack bar, the Acai Bowl!

Mmmmm, good stuff! πŸ˜€

I know I am dieting, but this wasn’t very many calories, so I decided to try it. Maaaaaan, was it ever good! I’m sure it was full of sugar, but I would definitely get this item again! I’m still sad they discontinued the polish dog at their food court, but when we finally get settled in at our new home, I will be buying the polish dogs and hotdog buns they use for hotdogs at the food court at Costco and make my own polish dogs at home for cheat meals! YUMMY!

After everything, I went home and relaxed. πŸ™‚

Money Spent on Sunday

  • 3-Holed Printer Paper – $3.19
  • Black Small Garbage Bin (will be using for dirty wash cloths in my bathroom) – $2.19

So yes! A very fun weekend indeed! I think going to Goodwill is alwaysΒ fun for me, so that is what really makes my day when I go to it. Or any other thrift store, yard sale, Estate sale, church sale, storage locker sale, etc. Love looking through stuff! O uO

How was your weekend?

  1. I need to purchase shoe boxes for OCC. Thanks for the reminder. I, also, make shoe boxes year round and have a bag or two of filler. Since this place is small, I should get it, organized. I usually do aged 10-14.
    Great deal finding!

    1. Hooray! Another shoe box packer! πŸ˜€ I’m happy you do 10-14 year old boxes because OCC needs those boxes the most. I would do more of the 10-14 age category, but I find they are more expensive to do than the 5-8 category. 😦 I’m low income and can’t afford to be buying too much stuff for shoe boxes each month, so I set a 6 dollar budget for myself each month for supplies and you would be surprised how many boxes I fill up from doing that. ^ _^ Going to Dollar Tree for shoe box supplies helps too. ❀

      1. I try to buy one small thing for whatever box I’m working on, every time I shop. 10-14 aren’t hard. Soap, Handkerchief, Small Toys, School Supplies….they aren’t anything like the 10-14 here in the U.S.

      2. I have a problem buying toys for the 10-14 age group since I limit myself to a small budget for OCC items each month. 😦 But I’m so happy you are doing 10-14 shoe boxes though! The older kids thank you for your kindness! ^ _^

  2. It’s nice you’re going to donate the paper. Funny story, my work was getting rid of a bunch of it so I brought it home, tore off the edges and tore it apart and it works great in my printer.

    1. So happy that worked out for you! ^ _^

If I tore of the siding with the three holes punched off of my paper that I bought, it would be too short for my home printer and everything would get cut off when printing something. :C But I’m my volunteer workplace will love the paper hopefully. If not, they can pass it on or something. πŸ™‚
