Welcome to My Thrift Store Treasures Blog Post series! In this newest blog post series of mine, I will be talking about three of my “treasures” I have found at Goodwill and other thrift stores and how they have impacted my life! The .0 numbers will go up as this blog series progresses over time. 🙂
Let’s get started! 🙂
Thrift Store Treasure #1: A Stuffed Disney Brave Horse
Oh my gosh guys, this horse is ADORABLE! I only wish that it would stand on its own because I have to sit it on it’s back legs to make it sit up by itself wrinkling it’s back legs in the process. Oh well, stuffed animals don’t stay new forever. : (
But anyway, this horse I believe was the horse Merideth rode in the Disney Pixar movie, Brave. It’s much cuter in real life and it is such a well made and lovely looking stuffed animal! It currently resides next to my bookcase decorating my bedroom. My bookcase shelves are full, so there is nowhere to put it on there. : (
But here is the OFFICIAL Disney emblem on its hoof!
Pretty schweet, huh? 😀 I hope to have this stuffed animal for a long time! There is nothing I love more than fun and creative looking stuffed animals in good condition especially from a thrift store! ❤ I got this little guy from Goodwill in Placerville, CA and he was only a dollar. A dollar! For a Disney stiffed animal that probably cost a lot more beforehand. I must say that I got pretty lucky with this find! 🙂
And yes, I do peruse toy aisles in thrift stores because you never know what you may find! 🙂
Thrift Store Treasure #2: Mini Trash Cans
So… I have been bit by the lifestyle inflation bug. I know it’s not a frugal bug to be bitten by, but there are many ways to “inflate your lifestyle” without spending a bunch of money in the process and that is acquiring things that were once bought at full price that now reside in thrift stores to be bought for almost nothing! Buying things at thrift stores to “upgrade” objects you may have bought on the cheap at, oh say Dollar Tree, is a great way to make your house a little fancier if you don’t mind buying eclectic stuff to upgrade one of your cheaper objects! Thus, my two “new” mini trash cans!
The first one was the mini trash can I talked about in this Weekend Update, but I said I passed up on. Weeeelllll… I went back to Goodwill searching for mini trash cans in the home section and saw that this one was still there. After inspecting it again and realizing the marks on it came off with my fingernail, there was hope for this trash can yet! So I bought it. And for $4.19 for a pretty wooden trashcan was a good deal I found, so I took it home with me. What was so funny about this white trash can was that on the bottom of it, the retail tag said $44.99. I mean, $44.99 FOR A TRASH CAN? In real life, I am thanking the person who bought this designer trash can who decided to donate it in the end so I could buy it for $4.19. 🙂 The reason why I like this trash can so much was that you could switch the designs of the shapes carved in it by pulling out a flat plastic design board and flipping it to your desired side you want. Thus, what you see in the picture. 🙂 And with a little elbow grease, I got this trash can cleaned up and it looks gently used, but cleaner than it was before! Good deal! 😀
The other one I also found at Goodwill one day and it was absolutely used looking on the inside of it, but I figured nobody was going to be looking at the inside of it and for $1.19, it was a steal. Thus, it came home with me! 🙂 It’s also made of metal and as you can see, has cute little emojis on it! Thought it was adorable and it is now my bathroom trashcan! 🙂
I can say I am thankful for buying these two trash cans because they allowed my the luxury of having really nice trash cans without paying full price. Ahh, precious savings. 🙂
Thrift Store Treasure #3: Blue Flower Sweater
Man, when I found this sweater at Goodwill, was I ever lucky! Even though it has a stain on it that is barely visible when wearing it, this flower sweater was beautiful and is very warm! I’m a little afraid to wash it because I am afraid the flower designs will get ruined in our crappy washing machine, so I will probably just wash this guy by hand instead when the time comes. 🙂
The reason why I love this sweater is because it’s totally my style and for $5.99, it turned out to be very warm for California’s climate during the winter time! I just really love it is all and I was very happy it was not marked up even further because it is such a well built jacket. 🙂
You don’t find nice stuff like this every day in Goodwill’s clothing section though which is unfortunate. : (
And that wraps up this Thrift Store Treasure post! I will always be on the lookout for even more fun treasures at my local thrift stores that will help me live my life to the fullest and I can tell you right now that that hunt never ends! 🙂
