What did I do/buy this weekend? (January 27-28, 2018)

Wow! what a weekend! This weekend was particularly fun because I was in very frugal environments each day. My favoriteΒ places to be at! Come see what I did this weekend! πŸ™‚

On Saturday, I went to my most favorite store in the world… Goodwill! πŸ˜€ And MAN, did I have fun in there! I stayed a little longer than usual because they had really good stuff this weekend!

Check out my big haul!

gw haul 2

Yaaaaaas, I love everything in this picture! So let me tell you, my awesome readers, what I got at Goodwill this weekend! First , I got this cute little stuffed giraffe that stands for about a buck and I love him. ❀ He’s currently on my bookshelf looking cute and decorating it. πŸ™‚ I also got a cool Kitchen Aid timer that is really loud when it goes off so I will be able to hear it from upstairs. LOCMom hates it, but I love it. I got the little guy for $3.20 and retail for one is $12.99. Score! Β I also got some brand new Avery binder dividers for future use in case I would ever need some good ones that were not from Dollar Tree. $1.19 for those. πŸ™‚ And then an item I actually needed… Scissors! $1.19 for those as well. Also found a cute Xmas Wal-Mart throw at Goodwill unopened for $3.19. I figure they’s about 5 bucks new at Wal-Mart, so I’m guessing I got a good deal on it. πŸ™‚ And last but not least, measuring cups for LOCKitty’s food and a sketch pad for LOCMom! Both were $2.19 and that sketchpad was an absolute steal because they can go up to over 7 bucks a pop ON SALE for those types of sketch pads. Yeesh. > _>

So all and all, a very good day at Goodwill! πŸ™‚

After that, I went home and relaxed. πŸ™‚ But LOCMom and I finished the night off by visiting LOCAuntV and her black standard poodle, Boogie! We had a wonderful time and maaaaan, did Boogie ever like to play with his toys, haha. πŸ˜›

Money Spent on Saturday (Goodwill Haul Edition!)

  • Christmas Throw (unopened in package) – $3.19
  • Binder Dividers (unused) – $1.19
  • Measuring Cups (never used) – $2.19
  • Scissors – $1.19
  • Stuffed Standing Giraffe – $1.19
  • Kitchen Aid Timer – $3.20
  • Sketch Pad – $2.19

Total Amount Spent: $14.34

On Sunday, I felt in my heart that it was such a nice day that I decided to sleep in! Was that ever relaxing! πŸ™‚ Today was also the day I started my diet again. In other words, the day where I don’t eat candy in between meals and exercise outside every day. πŸ˜› So far, so good! LOCMom wanted to walk with me around our neighborhood, so we did that and then went home. Walked about 1.3 miles for 32 minutes! Woohoo! Good stuff! πŸ˜€

Then I went to the Frugalpants Grocery Store and bought some food for my diet. I actually skipped the rotisserie chicken this time because I had a salmon fish fillet at home. I have been kind of naughty buying rotisserie chickens this month instead of just eating the meat I have at home… But when I do buy them, they are never wasted because they are so delicious! *drools* I also bought some toothpaste there instead of at the dollar store because I needed some right away. I’m not crying too much over it because the toothpaste I picked out is what I have liked using in the past, so I am happy that I will be able to use it again! πŸ™‚ So… 17 dollars later, I left the Frugalpants Grocery Store and went home and cooked dinner!

For dinner, I had salmon, maybe a little too much roasted broccoli, and yams. Then some ice cold water to wash it all down! SO GOOD! ^ o^

Money Spent on Sunday

  • Bananas (3) – $0.71
  • Sweet Potatoes (2) – $2.87
  • Avocados (3) – $2.94
  • Broccoli (3) – $2.28
  • Peanut Butter – $4.43
  • Suave Deodorant -$1.92
  • Toothpaste – $2.36

Total Amount Spent: $17.82

Lots of fun stuff went on this weekend! Hopefully more fun days to follow! And remember how I said in another Weekend Update this month that I went cashless in January? Well, it is at the end of the month now and my cashless experience was a resounding success! *insert party hard Dumbledore GIF here* I’m going to continue going cashless next month as well since I find I spend less money using my debit card than using cash. In fact, always in the past, I have always hated depleting my checking account of money I’m just going to spend anyway because I like having money in my checking and never taking it out. Going cashless fixes this problem for me and is a WIN-WIN all around! πŸ™‚

How was your weekend?Β

My Thrift Store Treasures! (Version 1.0)

Welcome to My Thrift Store Treasures Blog Post series! In this newest blog post series of mine, I will be talking about three of my “treasures” I have found at Goodwill and other thrift stores and how they have impacted my life! The .0 numbers will go up as this blog series progresses over time. πŸ™‚

Let’s get started! πŸ™‚

brace horse

Thrift Store Treasure #1: A Stuffed Disney Brave Horse

Oh my gosh guys, this horse is ADORABLE! I only wish that it would stand on its own because I have to sit it on it’s back legs to make it sit up by itself wrinkling it’s back legs in the process. Oh well, stuffed animals don’t stay new forever. : (

But anyway, this horse I believe was the horse Merideth rode in the Disney Pixar movie, Brave. It’s much cuter in real life and it is such a well made and lovely looking stuffed animal! It currently resides next to my bookcase decorating my bedroom. My bookcase shelves are full, so there is nowhere to put it on there. : (

But here is the OFFICIAL Disney emblem on its hoof!

brave horse hoove

Pretty schweet, huh? πŸ˜€ I hope to have this stuffed animal for a long time! There is nothing I love more than fun and creative looking stuffed animals in good condition especially from a thrift store! ❀ I got this little guy from Goodwill in Placerville, CA and he was only a dollar. A dollar! For a Disney stiffed animal that probably cost a lot more beforehand. I must say that I got pretty lucky with this find! πŸ™‚

And yes, I do peruse toy aisles in thrift stores because you never know what you may find! πŸ™‚

trash cans

Thrift Store Treasure #2: Mini Trash Cans

So… I have been bit by the lifestyle inflation bug. I know it’s not a frugal bug to be bitten by, but there are many ways to “inflate your lifestyle” without spending a bunch of money in the process and that is acquiring things that were once bought at full price that now reside in thrift stores to be bought for almost nothing! Buying things at thrift stores to “upgrade” objects you may have bought on the cheap at, oh say Dollar Tree, is a great way to make your house a little fancier if you don’t mind buying eclectic stuff to upgrade one of your cheaper objects! Thus, my two “new” mini trash cans!

The first one was the mini trash can I talked about in this Weekend Update, but I said I passed up on. Weeeelllll… I went back to Goodwill searching for mini trash cans in the home section and saw that this one was still there. After inspecting it again and realizing the marks on it came off with my fingernail, there was hope for this trash can yet! So I bought it. And for $4.19 for a pretty wooden trashcan was a good deal I found, so I took it home with me. What was so funny about this white trash can was that on the bottom of it, the retail tag said $44.99. I mean, $44.99 FOR A TRASH CAN? In real life, I am thanking the person who bought this designer trash can who decided to donate it in the end so I could buy it for $4.19. πŸ™‚ The reason why I like this trash can so much was that you could switch the designs of the shapes carved in it by pulling out a flat plastic design board and flipping it to your desired side you want. Thus, what you see in the picture. πŸ™‚ And with a little elbow grease, I got this trash can cleaned up and it looks gently used, but cleaner than it was before! Good deal! πŸ˜€

The other one I also found at Goodwill one day and it was absolutely used looking on the inside of it, but I figured nobody was going to be looking at the inside of it and for $1.19, it was a steal. Thus, it came home with me! πŸ™‚ It’s also made of metal and as you can see, has cute little emojis on it! Thought it was adorable and it is now my bathroom trashcan! πŸ™‚

I can say I am thankful for buying these two trash cans because they allowed my the luxury of having really nice trash cans without paying full price. Ahh, precious savings. πŸ™‚

blue jacket

Thrift Store Treasure #3: Blue Flower Sweater

Man, when I found this sweater at Goodwill, was I ever lucky! Even though it has a stain on it that is barely visible when wearing it, this flower sweater was beautiful and is very warm! I’m a little afraid to wash it because I am afraid the flower designs will get ruined in our crappy washing machine, so I will probably just wash this guy by hand instead when the time comes. πŸ™‚

The reason why I love this sweater is because it’s totally my style and for $5.99, it turned out to be very warm for California’s climate during the winter time! I just really love it is all and I was very happy it was not marked up even further because it is such a well built jacket. πŸ™‚

You don’t find nice stuff like this every day in Goodwill’s clothing section though which is unfortunate. : (

And that wraps up this Thrift Store Treasure post! I will always be on the lookout for even more fun treasures at my local thrift stores that will help me live my life to the fullest and I can tell you right now that that hunt never ends! πŸ™‚

What thrift store treasures have impacted your life?

What did I do/buy this weekend and on Monday? (January 20-22, 2018)

Hello, everybody! I’m expanding this Weekend Update to this Monday because I didn’t do much this weekend… : ( But anyway, come see what I did these past three days! πŸ˜€

Saturday was a pretty lazy day, so I did not do much. No spending log for this day I’m afraid.

Money Spent on Saturday

Total Amount Spent: $0.00

Sunday, however was much more interesting! It was a shopping day and I wanted to hit up my local Dollar Tree for some stuff I needed and whew, did I buy a lot. It’s amazing what 1 buck after 1 buck totals up to… O _O

Here is part of my Dollar Tree haul!

dt haul

The only thing not in this haul are my 3 bags of glass gems, or my new Mancala beads, and a HUGE Crunch bar. Those items are currently down stairs in the closet and in the pantry. πŸ˜‰

Anyway, as you can see, in my haul, you will notice that I have a lot of fun little games. Well, these items are Operation Christmas Child items, or OCC items, that I buy $5.00’s worth of each month for OCC boxes. Stuff tends to pile up after a while if you buy items in small bulk like this each month. Therefore, more OCC boxes get filled up quicker. πŸ™‚ I also bought some Valentine’s Day cards and Valentine’s Day stickers for the Valentine’s Day cards I will be sending out to all of my friends and family. πŸ™‚ Fun times! Also, those file dividers are for my new binder that I purchased at Goodwill for 69 cents to keep track of my monthly checking. So far, the binder looksΒ great! πŸ™‚ And that little role of washi tape was for me. I can’t help it, I love buying cute washi tape. D:

After Dollar Tree, I went to the Spendypants Thrift Store and looked in the kitchen section for a teflon saucepan for LOCMom. She wants a bigger one than the one she has now and so far, no luck in finding one locally in thrift stores around town. : ( Booooooooo. I also saw some cute circular mini trash cans that I was looking for to “upgrade” my white plastic Dollar Tree ones at home, but they wanted 3 bucks for each trashcan. Ughhh, no thanks. > _> I recently bought a newΒ trash can at Goodwill for my bathroom for $1.19, so I will just keep checking back at Goodwill and yes, the Spendypants Thrift Store as well for newish small trashcans that are fancier than my current Dollar Tree ones. But whileΒ I was there, I bought a really strong bookend to replace the one I have at home and I really like it so far! ^_^ It will go on one of my bookshelves when my turtle bookend becomes too bulky for the shelve it is on. πŸ™‚

Then after the Spendypants Thrift Store, I went home and relaxed all day. πŸ™‚

Money Spent on Sunday

  • OCC items – $5.00
  • Folder Dividers – $2.00
  • Valentine’s Day Stickers – $2.00
  • Valentine’s Day Cards – $1.00
  • Mancala Beads (3 bags) (bulk size) – $3.00
  • Washi Tape – $1.00
  • Huge Crunch Bar – $1.00
  • Bag fee – $0.10
  • Bookend – $2.15

Total Amount Spent: $17.25

On Monday, I went shopping again! This time, at Goodwill, haha. πŸ™‚ Man I love that store. πŸ˜› But I was on a mission to find two trash cans to replace my other ones at home and unfortunately, I didn’t find any trashcans I liked. In other words, they only had two ugly ones. : ( But what was lulzy about one of the trashcans was that its original price was $44.99. $44.99! It must have been a designer trashcan in its old life because it was all marked up on the outside of it when I cam across it. I do not want a sloppy looking trashcan, haha. πŸ™‚ But I did manage to find to some cool small glasses to replace the other four I have at home!

Check em’ out!

glasses

They even stack on each other! πŸ˜€

glasses 1

Pretty cool, huh? If you look reeeeaaaalllly, closely in the background, you will be able to see LOCKitty Amelia. πŸ™‚

After Goodwill, I then went to Costco because LOCMom needed some stuff there and I noticed in the parking lot that somebody had my favorite toilet paper ever in their basket: Charmin! I knew when I went into Costco that I had to buy some for the next few months anyway, so I took full advantage of it! After checking out though, I was VERY GOOD and didn’t buy anything at the snack bar. I usually buy something at the snack bar at Costco whenever I am there, but I have to not eat so much junk since I want to stay true to my healthy eating ways, so I did not get any food. Go me! πŸ™‚

Here is the Charmin I bought!

charmin

Got lucky there! Costco hardly stocks this stuff besides Quilted Northern, so you gotta’ buy it when you see it!

After Costco, I went home and will be relaxing all day. πŸ™‚

Money Spent on Monday

  • Small Glass Cups (8) – $5.52
  • Charmin Toilet Paper – $18.22

Total Amount Spent: $23.74

So all and all, a good three days! Hoping this week goes smoothly! πŸ˜€

How was your weekend?
