What did I do/buy this weekend? (November 12, 2017)

Wow! What a fun weekend! I got to do my most favorite thing in the world: Thrift store shopping! On both Saturday and Sunday! I also went to Dollar Tree and bought a few things as well. ๐Ÿ™‚ So I will tell you guys all about my weekend below!

On Saturday, LOCMom was feeling thrifty, so we decided to hit up some thrift stores! We first went to the Spendypants Thrift Store, or The Cancer Society Discovery Shop, which was having a not so spendy 50% off almost everything sale on Saturday! I couldn’t believe it, so LOCMom and I had to stop there and look around!

Now, I usually don’t buy much from the Spendypants Thrift Store because mostly everything is expensive, but I managed to find a new pair of house slippers that didn’t smell too bad! They were “hiding” in the children’s section. ๐Ÿ˜› I tried them on in-store and they fit great! I was so happy to come across their hiding spot. ๐Ÿ˜€ I also picked out a white star for our Christmas tree this year which will replace our Dollar Tree star from last year. However, it chips easily, so we’ll have to be careful with it when we pack it away for next year.

Here are my slippers and Christmas star!

And THEN! I couldn’t believe it, but I can across a Michael Kors top in the clothing area in my size! That’s a designer item everybody! So of course, I had to try it on. And you know what happened next? IT FIT! ๐Ÿ˜€ And it was 50% off almost everything day, so the Michael Kors top which was 7 bucks was now $3.75! $3.75! These designer shirts usually go for around $80-$90 a pop, so I was absolutely THRILLED to get the shirt for such a deal! I think the shirt was missing some sequins on it, but it was hardly noticeable!

Here is my beau-ti-ful Michael Kors shirt I bought!

And before the Spendypants Thrift Store opened, I went to Dollar Tree next door and bought some Thanksgiving cards for friends and family! I also bought some Operation Christmas Child supplies for LOCMom’s shoebox and my own. Every month, I buy 5 items for my boxes and the items certainly add up after an entire year!

Then after the Spendypants Thrift Store, we went to the Salvation Army thrift store across town, but alas, I didn’t find anything there. : ( Apparently, not a lot of rich people donate their stuff to that thrift store, so there was not a lot of good stuff there to go through. Even the clothes were lacking. Oh well. We probably won’t hit up that thrift store again in the near future.

Then after thrift store shopping, LOCMom and I went home and I had my cheat meal for the week! The cheat meal was macaroni and cheese and meatloaf! Oh man folks, this stuff was sooooooooo good, yet so fattening, haha. ๐Ÿ˜›

And yes, that is bacon on top of the meatloaf. ๐Ÿ™‚

And then we stayed home all day! It was oneย of those relaxing kind of days.

Money Spent on Saturday

  • Thanksgiving Cards – $12.00 ($0.50 a card)
  • Operation Christmas Child (OCC) Supplies – $5.00
  • Christmas Star – $2.00
  • House Slippers – $1.50

Total Amount Spent: $20.50

On Sunday, our first stop was Goodwill! Man, I can’t get enough of that place. I didn’t find any items there, but I did find some cute clothes! One even had a Macy’s tag still on it!

GW haul

The brown sweater was the Macy’s item! Methinks it was there because it had visible snags in the arm hole and the original owners didn’t know how to get it out. But I do! *insert awesome face here* I easily got those snags out at home and BAM! It looks like a brand new sweater! Going to the right of the picture, I also purchased a brown camisole for a black striped dress of mine. It looks great with it! And last but not least is the red turtleneck shirt. Imagine to my horror after looking up the brand of the shirt that I paidย 6 bucks for a WAL-MART SHIRT. Yes, you read that right… A Wal-Mart shirt! Note to future thrifting self: If you see a brand name shirt called ‘White Stag’, it’s a Walmart shirt and you shouldn’t pay 6 bucks for it. *sigh* Oh well, art least it was cute. I loved it in the fitting room and I loved it at home as well!

Goodwill Outfit Selfie!

I think my wintery doggy shirt looks pretty good in my new sweater that still had the tag on it! ๐Ÿ˜‰ There’s a clearance necklace I bought at Kohl’s a long time ago in that selfie hiding somewhere…

And then LOCMom and I hit up the Frugalpantsย Grocery Store, or Winco, for food! I bought 3 pounds of ground turkey since it is very tasty and pretty low in calories! Gonna’ freeze most of it. ๐Ÿ™‚ Then I just got my regular food I usually buy.

And then at the end of our shopping trip, I fed the pigeons with the food I got in the store from the bulk bins! Those cutie wooties love that stuff so much. ๐Ÿ™‚

I got a better picture of the pigeons and the brewer’s black birds eating the food up though!

They were pretty hungry today, haha. ๐Ÿ™‚

And after the Frugalpants Grocery Store, LOCMom and I went home to relax for the rest of the day! This weekend was so successful! ๐Ÿ˜€

Money Spent on Sunday

  • Goodwill Haul – $17.48
  • Bird Seed (from bulk bins) – $2.08
  • Ground Turkey (bulk size) – $5.98
  • While Milk – $3.50
  • Sweet Potato – $1.64
  • Grape Tomatoes – $1.98
  • Strawberries – $2.98
  • Bananas (3) – $0.76
  • Romaine Lettuce – $2.48
  • Crimini Mushrooms – $0.80
  • Avocados (3) – $2.94

Total Amount Spent: $42.62

So yeah, it’s not like I needed those Goodwill clothes, but I really liked them! Plus that sweater was a bargain at $10.00 becuase Macy’s usually asks for $30+ for that brand’s sweaters. The tag said the sweater was markedย on clearance for 24 bucks, but that is only a $6.00 difference. So that is what brought the Goodwill price so high. That sweater was worth it though. โค

And the ground turkey should last me for a while! Can’t wait to bag it and freeze it for future meals! ๐Ÿ™‚

How was your weekend?

  1. Nice thrift store finds! I love the Michael Kors top, very pretty.

Today I went to an arts and crafts fair with two friends. I bought a small piece of artwork and two handmade skirts. Not frugal, but I had some money saved, and I wanted to use it to support local artisans.

And the meatloaf and mac and cheese look yummy. We went out for Vietnamese food after the art fair, and I had a bowl of pho (beef noodle soup). It’s one of my favorite things to eat, and healthy and delicious too.

Hope you have a good week!

    1. Nothing wrong with supporting loacl artisans! ๐Ÿ™‚ If I had a lot of money to blow, I would do the same if I was at some place special. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have had Pho before and it was pretty good! However, the Vietnamese restaurant I had it at wasn’t really all that great, so I hope to go to a fancier Vietnamese restaurant and have it again someday! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I love the Christmas star! Very pretty! You got some great deals on the clothes, too. I desperately need new clothes, but I keep putting off shopping. I don’t like to go clothes shopping. I must be the only woman alive who dislikes it! The meatloaf looks excellent. It looks like the Lipton soup mix one I’ve made in the past, before I realized how unhealthy that soup mix is! The meatloaf was tasty, but I guess MSG does that LOL. Have a great week!

    1. You may be the only woman who hate clothes shopping, haha. ๐Ÿ˜› I’m just kidding, lol. ๐Ÿ™‚ I love hunting for cheap new clothes at Goodwill, but if I bought every piece of clothing I liked in Goodwill, I would be broke. ๐Ÿ˜› Gotta’ reign in the impulse sometimes! And the meatloaf was very good! LOCMom is a great chef! If we still have some meatloaf leftover from last weekend, I will probably defrost it and eat it this weekend! โค
