I am SO SORRY for the late weekend update everybody! : ( I was so busy yesterday that updating everybody about my weekend completely skipped my mind! But better late than never, right? 😉
Let’s get started! 😀
This weekend was basically Goodwill weekend! Meaning, I went to Goodwill A LOT! So many treasures, too many to count! 😀 I guess I’m an awful minimalist, but I assure that most of it was necessary to buy! I will start with my first Goodwill haul!
Most of this stuff was for Operation Christmas Child boxes. 🙂 The erasers were especially a good score! These erasers, well for a box of them, would run $10-$20 for these excellent erasers in bulk which I got at Goodwill for $2.19. $2.19 for a box of erasers that actually erase! Score! I also bought blank Thank You cards and blank cards. I need more cards like I need a hole in the head, haha. But I love having a choice of cards and blank cards to choose from when writing them.
So this was the only store that stuck out for my weekend spending. It’s always fun to go to Goodwill to see what you can find!
And basically after this store, I just relaxed at home on Saturday. I think I went to See’s Candy and got a free sample which was a Blueberry Truffle, but I can’t remember which day that was this three day weekend. Oh well. 🙂
Money Spent On Saturday:
- Goodwill Haul – $8.02
Total Amount Spent: $8.02
On Sunday, I went to Dollar Tree to get Halloween cards and Operation Christmas Child Supplies with my monthly budgeted 5 buckaroos. I managed to find some stuff, but I decided to tack one more dollar to my OCC budgeted money for a 2-pack of washclothes! Worth it, I say! As for the Halloween cards, I send these cards out all decorated in stickers and washi tape with festive Halloween stamps so they all look holiday ready! It’s a lot of work making them, but I hope everybody who receives a card enjoys it. 🙂
And then, I guess I went home and relaxed for the rest of the day as well! I guess I don’t get out much except while I am shopping, haha. 🙂
Money Spent on Sunday:
- Halloween Cards – $9.00 (each card was $0.50 each 🙂 )
- OCC Gifts – $6.00
Total Amount Spent: $15.00
Hooray! It was Monday and because it was Monday on
Indigenous People’s Day Columbus Day , Goodwill was having a 50% off sale almost everything in the store! Woooooooohoo! Since I wanted to go early and got up early that morning anyway, LOCMom drove me to Goodwill and waited for me in the car while I shopped. There was a lot of treasure in the kitchen section at Goodwill, but I managed to find something for LOCAunt that we were admiring back on Apple Hill in El Dorado County. I will show it to you in second, but first, my Goodwill haul!
Can you believe I only paid $4.50 for all of this? I still can’t! All of this stuff is for OCC boxes! It was all gently used, meaning not used very much if at all, therefore, it is all perfect for OCC boxes! You may be wondering now, “Where does Ms. Living on Cents keep all of this stuff since she is a minimalist?” Well, I’m happy you asked! In my room, I have a OCC shoebox packing area where I put my shoeboxes and the stuff for them until collection day that is in November. 🙂 We are getting ever so closer to November, so I will be bringing my shoeboxes to the nearest collection place soon which is usually at a church! So I can’t wait for that day to come!
But while I was in Goodwill that morning, I happened to spot something that was absolutely wonderful! LOCAunt and LOCMom were looking at this object at Apple Hill in El Dorado County. But seeing how they were so much money, they thought they were wonderful, but didn’t want to pay the asking price. However, I found the SAME object they were looking at at Goodwill that morning, except the item was made in Washington by artisans (I looked up the company 🙂 ). So I called LOCAunt and sent her a picture of it and when she saw it, she sad, “BUY IT!” And so the object came home with me. And here it is!
Can you believe a bowl from this particular company that made it wants $52.00 for it on there website and I picked it up for $4.10? $4.10! It was originally $8.19, but it was half off day at Goodwill, so I got for half that! SCORE! 😀 LOCAunt is going to come and visit soon, so it is just waiting at our house for her to come and pick it up. 🙂 If you look closely, you can even see the artisan’s finger markings on the top right corner of it which I thought was pretty cool. 🙂
Then after Goodwill, I went to Michaels to get three pencil sharpeners for my OCC boxes which were $1.19 each. I also picked up some acrylic paint to fix the chipped paint on my turtle bookend. I have to buy more paint for it to do an amateur restoration on it so it will look nice, so I will be going back to Michaels to pick some acrylic paint up for it. 🙂 So happy the smaller tubes of acrylic paint are not that expensive! 🙂 With a coupon, they are even cheaper! 😀
And after Michaels, we went home! We were relaxing at home, but LOCCousins were coming to town for one day and LOCMom and I went to have dinner with them at Round Table Pizza with LOCAuntV. It was pretty fun eating pizza again and visiting with everybody! I also wanted to play a crane game there and win a bear, but the machine wouldn’t accept my dollars or quarters. > _< Meh! Apparently the machine thought I was going to clean it out of merchandise because I used to be a crane game master back in the day. Well, when I was little , haha. 😛 So I didn’t play any games. Boooooo. 😦
But oh well. Mmmmm, pizza!
Well, I only had one piece of this pizza. Didn’t like some of the topping on it, so I had to pick them off, haha. 🙂 I had a small cheese pizza. 🙂
After we left Round Table Pizza and LOCCousins and LOCAuntV went on their way, I decided to stop by Goodwill AGAIN because I actually needed to buy something for a project I worked on on Monday! But I got few other things as well! Check out my SECOND haul on 50% off day!
I got a paper tray for our printer paper and lined paper! It wasn’t the PERFECT paper tray, but for $0.50, what a bargain! I also bought a stapler for upstairs that was Made in the USA and good quality shelf lining to replace my crappy Dollar Tree shelf lining. Blech. :C
But the stars of the night were the binders! The project I am working on is organizing my paperwork I get in the mail that I have to save for records. Like Medicare stuff, bank balances and all of that. I plan to tackle that project in the coming week! Look, I already got my Social Security Letters all organized! 🙂
The clear white binder I wish I didn’t have to buy because I like all of my binders to look the same, but for $0.60, I can always replace it later with another binder I find at Goodwill. 🙂 I will be on the lookout!
At the end of the day, I also ordered Halloween Stamps from USPS and sheet protectors from Amazon to start my binder project with! I can’t wait until the sheet protectors come so I can continue my project! 🙂
Money Spent on Monday:
- Goodwill Hauls – $4.50, $8.55
- Michaels – $6.35
Total Amount Spent: $19.40
Okay… So this weekend was a Spendypants weekend. But all was pretty much needed! I can’t help it, I just love Goodwill. 🙂 But I will try not to go there every day, haha. 😛
How was your two day/three day weekend?
